Finally, a Skin Protection Solution for Lower Limb Amputees

Are you lower limb amputee who suffers from reddened skin, frequent discomfort, or painful skin breakdown on your residual limb? Then you know that friction and rubbing can lead to blisters, discomfort, and even open wounds. And left untreated, wounds on your limb can prevent you from using your prosthesis and limit your mobility.

Fortunately, there’s finally a solution that works – a solution that’s focused on immediate relief from the friction and shear that cause hot spots, blister, and wounds.

The Ultimate Solution for Painful Rubbing

The GlideWear Prosthetic Liner Patch uses a patented fabric technology designed to protect skin and reduce the friction that causes hotspots and sores. GlideWear Patches absorb shear to protect amputees’ skin where it comes into contact with their prosthetic liner.

Why Our Customers Love GlideWear

“It healed my knees within less than a week… There was no more pain. Otherwise, I was always back in the wheelchair because I couldn’t wear my legs because they were so ripped up… I put [the prosthetic liner patch] on one day and it was healed, it was all healed up, there was no more sore. But even just one day without [GlideWear], my knees were really red and there was a little sore on there. So I had to wait for that to heal. But with the GlideWear, it heals right away.” — Pauline Wiirre, bilateral transtibial amputee

“It’s a magic patch.” — Kevin Hines, Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist

“I just felt a sense of relief, just physical relief, over that area… When I’m using [the prosthetic liner patch], it totally eliminates my need to take off the limb for periods of rest.” — Lance Corporal Mark Seifert, United States Marine Corps, Retired

“I can swim now. I’m back out kayaking… Getting out to actually enjoy my life.” — Diane Brenden

“When I first started using GlideWear, it just felt good on the ends of my legs… Since I’ve had the GlideWear, I am up and moving around a lot more. Walking more.” — Ann Morris

Product Instructions

To use your GlideWear Prosthetic Liner Patch, simply:

  1. Place the GlideWear patch against the area of concern. If the skin is broken, be sure to clean and cover appropriately with a wound dressing to support proper wound healing.
  2. Pull your liner over the patch and your limb, taking care to ensure the patch does not fold over itself as the liner is pulled into position.
  3. Use your prosthesis as usual.

Indications & Safety Information

The GlideWear Prosthetic Liner Patch is indicated for use with most gel or silicone prosthetic liners and does not negatively affect device fit or performance when used as directed. Indicated for patella, fibular head, and anterior distal tibia wound prevention.

Contact your healthcare provider if you have any questions or concerns about the use of this product.

Tech Specs

Each package contains 2 patches.

Available in Small (2.5 in. x 4.75 in.), Large (4.5 in. x 7.5 in.), and Circles (4 in.).
We recommend choosing a patch that’s slightly larger than the area of concern to ensure the patch sufficiently covers your limb but is not too large in order to avoid the fabric from folding over itself when draped over your limb.

I absolutely love my small oval glide wear pads. I use them daily. Would recommend them to anyone. Plan to order more in the near future. I use one on the end of my stump and then place another behind my knee where it constantly bends.

As of June of 2009, I am an LBKA from a motorcycle. I have hardwear holding my kneecap together, and my prosthetist gave me a set of these about 7 years ago to keep my liner from rubbing against the skin over the screws. They helped tremendously, and had to buy a new pair

I have a BTK amputation. I was having pain in my femur and knee cap, to the point I was only able to wear my Prosthesis about 3 hrs. Stumbled on GlideWear while surfing one day and bought 2 large ovals. Tried them out and could not believe, the pain was gone 100%. Wore them 12 hrs that day. Try them, you won’t be disappointed.
